Why it matters
Storybook 11 enters alpha with significant breaking changes: TypeScript 5.9 is now required, React DOM shim is removed, and browser-opening behavior changed to opt-in. The release includes modernized type patterns throughout and foundational improvements to documentation and preview handling.

Storybook 11.0.0-alpha.1 is out. Browser stays closed by default, TypeScript 5.9 required, react-dom-shim removed, and legacy decorator ordering flag gone.
Storybook 11.0.0-alpha.1 ships with notable changes: browser opening is now opt-in by default, TypeScript 5.9 becomes the minimum, @storybook/react-dom-shim is removed, and legacy migration paths are cleaned up. The Code panel is enabled by default in docs, and Web Components gain server-side docgen support. This is a significant step forward for the alpha release.
