October brought new permission endpoints, voice status permission clarifications, audit log events for channel and role reordering, content scanning flags, and component embed link previews.

• October 31, 2026 · New Endpoints for getting member and role permissions for guilds and channels

  Four endpoints were added for retrieving a member's or role's permissions in a guild or channel. Channel endpoints mask implicit permissions by default; implicit=false skips the masking.

• October 29, 2026 · Channel and Role Position Update Audit Logs

  Two audit log events were added: CHANNEL_POSITION_UPDATE (16) for reordering channels and ROLE_POSITION_UPDATE (33) for reordering roles. Audit log entry merging is now documented.

• October 29, 2026 · Voice Channel Status Permission Clarification

  Members connected to a voice channel can set its status with SET_VOICE_CHANNEL_STATUS even without CONNECT, which no longer implicitly removes that permission. Members not connected still need MANAGE_CHANNELS.

• October 28, 2026 · Content Scanning Flags for Attachments, Embeds, and Media

  Flags Discord sets when content scanning marks media as explicit, gore, or self-harm are now documented. Attachments and embeds use CONTAINS_* flags, and unfurled media include a content_scan_metadata object.

  Sites can add a discord:component-embed JSON payload so Discord renders link previews with a Components V2 layout. These embeds are display-only, and link preview tag documentation was published.

  Videos from the Discord Developers YouTube channel are now embedded in the documentation beside related guides. Longer videos show total running time and a chapter list for jumping to sections.

  Age assurance is launching; existing apps, bots, games and integrations keep working. Possible runtime effects include limited custom status visibility, age group confirmation for restricted Activities, spending limits and more filtered DMs.

  Create Channel Invite now accepts target_user_ids without a CSV upload, and four endpoints add, remove, or bulk-adjust an invite's target users. Callers must be the inviter or have MANAGE_GUILD.

• September 17, 2026 · Shard Param Required for Get Current User Guilds with Large Bot Sharding

  Get Current User Guilds now requires the shard query param for apps using large bot sharding; requests without it return 400 Bad Request. Valid values run from 0 through max_concurrency - 1; apps not using large bot sharding are unaffected.

• September 17, 2026 · Unlinking Accounts Guide

  A new guide covers unlinking a user's Discord account from a game, including revoking access and refresh tokens, handling relinking conflicts, and out-of-band unlinks via the APPLICATION_DEAUTHORIZED webhook.

• September 17, 2026 · Custom Status Hidden by Profile Privacy Settings

  For users with Profile Privacy set to Friends Only, or Friends & Small Servers Only in guilds over 200 members, custom status is omitted from Presence Update activities sent to that guild. Other activity types are unaffected.
