What shipped

Why it matters

This week the project shipped its first 1.0.0 release of the TypeScript servers, along with a set of fixes for the filesystem server's handling of roots changes. Users of the filesystem server get correct behavior when a client withdraws its roots or sends overlapping refreshes, and users of the time and fetch servers get stricter argument handling and tool annotations. The release also covers updated SDK dependencies across the TypeScript and Python servers.

V1.0.0 is out: server-everything, server-filesystem, server-memory and server-sequential-thinking published at 1.0.0. Also this week: filesystem roots refresh fixes, fetch tool annotations, exact IANA timezone keys, and a type fix for Node 26.

The TypeScript servers shipped v1.0.0 this week: server-everything, server-filesystem, server-memory and server-sequential-thinking are published at 1.0.0. The release branch was merged and reconciled so v1.0.0 sits on the main line of development. Alongside the release, the filesystem server got three fixes around roots changes: tool calls now wait while any roots refresh is pending, only the newest refresh's answer is applied, and access is revoked when an update leaves no valid root. The fetch tool now carries annotations, the time server accepts only exact IANA timezone keys, and the build keeps tests out of the published package.

Why it matters

This week adds comprehensive test coverage gates for all servers and a local development command matching CI behavior, making it easier for contributors to catch issues before pushing. Documentation changes clarify the shift to issue-driven contribution, and several server bugs are fixed to improve reliability.

Per-file 90% coverage gates now active for Python and TypeScript servers. Local npm run local:gate runs all CI checks. Fixed port reporting in everything server, memory file-path tests, and filesystem unicode-paths on macOS.

This week brings significant improvements to test coverage and local development workflows. Per-file 90% coverage gates are now enforced across Python and TypeScript servers in CI. Contributors can run npm run local:gate to execute all checks locally before pushing. Several server bugs are fixed: the everything server now correctly reports port binding errors, the memory server's tests no longer interfere with real files, and filesystem unicode-path tests work correctly on macOS. Documentation updates clarify the shift to issue-driven development.

Weeks with too little public activity are left out rather than filled in. Last updated 2026-10-12.
