This week: FastAPI 0.143.0 makes automatic OpenTelemetry exporter setup opt-in. Set FASTAPI_OTEL_AUTO_CONFIGURE=true or telemetry={"auto_configure": True} to keep previous behavior. Also fixes telemetry isolation for excluded requests and caches OpenTelemetry tracers.
This week, FastAPI 0.143.0 is released with an important change: automatic OpenTelemetry exporter setup is now opt-in. If you rely on FastAPI to configure exporters from OTEL_* environment variables, set FASTAPI_OTEL_AUTO_CONFIGURE=true or use FastAPI(telemetry={"auto_configure": True}) to retain the previous behavior. This gives you more control over telemetry configuration. We also released 0.142.4 to isolate telemetry for excluded requests, and 0.142.3 to cache OpenTelemetry tracers and preserve warning deduplication. Documentation updates include embedding the FastAPI and friends newsletter signup form and removing an HTML title to avoid a tooltip. The bump-pre-commit-hooks workflow was fixed for a deprecated command, and sponsors were updated by removing Render.
